Traditional Chinese Soup !

13th July 2009

Soup has been part of the chinese culture for century. I grew up in a family where soups were being served almost daily, most importantly during dinner. I was told by mum that soup helps in cooling the body.

One of my her favourite phrases was " Yam Doh Ti Tong la, Tin Hei Hou Heng. Ha Foh ah!" it literally means " the weather is really hot, drink more soup, it helps in cooling "

Yea, a way of preventing one from getting fevers, etc.

It has something to do with the " Ying & Yang " in our body.

First up ,

Watercress Soup

Lotus Root Soup

Old Cucumber Soup
Best served in country like Brunei where it is hot & humid all year round.
It provides cooling effects for the body to counter the heats.

Black Pepper Soup with Pig's Stomach
Spicy based where it uses a mixture of white and black pepper.
It's good when you're feeling too cold.

and One more important notes.....

Nutritionists believe that drinking soups before and during meals is good because it reduced the occurrence of gastritis and esophagitis. It also helps to mix up the food in the stomach aiding digestion and nutrition absorption.

Alright, and that marks the end of today's edition...
